??Does this makes sense that your Ecto/Meso/Endo body type determines tanning?? I'm not convinced.

I don't know about that. But ectomorphs need to focus on muscle gain while endormorphs need to focus on fat loss and so on, so I do think some basic rules apply when it comes to training.

Talking good stuff...

this had to be one of the most enjoyable pieces i've ever read. even though it was a random look for a dictionary version of what an ectomorph is to find out if a shirt would fit me, it was quite entertaining and educational to read through. i never realized that lisa kudrow was an ectomorph. i think this would tickle the actors listed- to or away from the buffet table.

This article is ridiculous. Body type doesn't have anything to do with how thick your hair is or whether or not you have a square jaw. It's garbage like this that gives weight lifters reputations as mental midgets.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you. Square jaws and thick hair are androgen related characteristics which are body type specific. It may not be the case in every individual (in fact, it most certainly is not), but the same agents which determine body type also determine those factors to a certain extent.

Hello. I am a 33yr old male who is 5'11'' and 205lbs. I play futbol (soccer) twice a week, roller blade @10k/wk, go to the gym and lift weights 3 times/wk as well a ride my bike a lot. I am very strong and fit. I went for a physical recently and my doctor took my height, age, and weight and told me I needed to lose 20lbs!!! I may not have abs of an underwear model, but I know I'm in much better shape than most of my peers! The doctor simply used a Body Mass Index (BMI) table to come up with a number. Does the medical profession use the Body Type models? I know enough to get a second opionion (MINE!!) and realize that the doctor was not correct.

I understand that the number of people that the BMI helps is far outweighed by the number that it misleads. The doctors news kind of insulted me and I wonder if other people have had this experience? Just a comment.

Cheers,
John

haha, funny story John. The same thing happened to me once. I couldn't believe it when the doctor told me I was overweight according to the BMI. The system is not meant for those whose weights are composed of muscle mass as well as fat I think! It's a horrid system.

I think it's safe to say that anyone who is into bodybuilding is overweight by the BMI standard.

It's interesting to have another measurement system to analyze data, but overall, I don't care much for the BMI.

Check your body fat percentage not BMI.
