Question Whatever happened to Nasser El Sonbaty

Man, this guy was the best back in the day. He gave everyone a run for their money - even Dorian. They say if his back was a bit bigger and a bit sharper he could have been Mr. Olympia. It's unfortunate he didn't leave the scene a winner as he was a few years ago

Great front pose. Awesome lats and overall muscularity. For a man who holds such mass, he looks great.

Like I said, it came down to his back. Dorian had him beat there, as did Ronnie after him, and that delegated Nasser to 2nd place or lower

Anyone heard what he's up to these days. I thought he was supposed to be competing at the Arnold classic

Lee is on a distinguished road
I'm pretty sure he pulled out of the Arnold due to an injury. That's what I read somewhere, unless things have changed. He had shoulder surgery, too, so the injury might be related. Too bad to see an iron warrier like him go out without much impact like that

yeah. From what i read he had tremendous problems with his shoulder. Apparently he had a bacterial infection that was 7 inches deep in his shoulder ( sounds embelished a bit maybe, but that is what it said). Because of this he couldn't train/compete for a while. He is supposedly going to be doing some shows in the near future (NOT retired)

In a sense, too bad. I mean, if he had retired after 2000, he would have went out a winner and still be able to be involved in bodybuilding to this day. Seems like the more contests he does, the more he slips down the ranks of professional bodybuilding. This could prevent him from doing something successfully upon retirement such as market a brand of supplements as other champs have done.

Oh well - hopefully he comes back strong and shows us that he is capable of being the old Nasser we remember.
